Honey Syrup

  • ½ cup honey Star ingredient for sweetness.
  • ¼ cup water Helps reach the desired syrup consistency.
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice Provides acidity to balance sweetness.

Making the Cake

  • In a mixing bowl, combine semolina flour, yogurt, sugar, honey, vegetable oil, eggs, baking powder, baking soda, salt, vanilla extract, and optional lemon zest. Stir until you achieve a smooth mixture.
  • Transfer the batter into a greased baking dish, ensuring an even spread. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • In a small saucepan, mix honey, water, and lemon juice. Heat gently over medium heat, stirring until the mixture simmers and thickens slightly.
  • Allow the cake to cool for a few minutes. Once slightly cooled, pour your warm honey syrup over the cake, letting it soak in for an extra burst of flavor before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, substitute semolina flour with almond flour. You can add nutritional enhancements by adding nuts or dried fruits to the batter.
