Fresh Asparagus

  • 2 pounds fresh asparagus trimmed
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 4 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Cooking Instructions

  • In a large skillet, melt butter. Add asparagus; cook, stirring constantly, over high heat until slightly blistered, 2-3 minutes.
  • Whisk together honey, soy sauce, garlic, salt, and pepper. Pour over asparagus. Continue cooking and stirring until the spears are coated and the sauce starts to evaporate slightly, 2-3 minutes.

Notes

Make sure to trim the woody ends of the asparagus spears. The thick bottom part of the spear is tough and not meant to be eaten. This dish can be made with added proteins such as shrimp or chicken.
