Ingredients
  

Beef and Seasoning

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1 cup Thai basil leaves chopped

Veggies and Wrapper

  • 1 carrot or bell pepper julienned
  • 0.25 cup fresh mint or cilantro
  • 8 rice paper wrappers
  • 8 small lettuce leaves

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a skillet, cook beef with garlic until browned.
  • Stir in soy sauce, fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, and chili flakes.
  • Turn off heat and mix in Thai basil.
  • Prep veggies and herbs while beef cools slightly.
  • Dip rice paper in warm water until soft, then lay flat.
  • Layer lettuce, beef, veggies, and herbs in the center.
  • Roll tightly like a burrito, folding in sides first.
  • Serve with sweet chili or fish sauce dip.

Notes

Don’t overfill rolls—less is more for clean wrapping. Use mint and cilantro if Thai basil isn’t available. Cover finished rolls with a damp towel to keep fresh. Make vegetarian with tofu or mushrooms instead of beef.
